Your bridge is cemented onto abutments formed from the neighboring teeth. While it is intended to be very durable, it’s not unheard of for a blow to the face, a hard fall, or chronic gum disease to cause one or both of the abutments to come loose or fracture. If your bridge feels loose or damaged, you should call [practice_name] as soon as possible to schedule an appointment.

In the meantime, you should avoid wiggling, cleaning or playing with the loose bridge. The more you manipulate a loose bridge the more likely you are to damage the bridge or the abutment inside.

You can gently rinse your mouth with salt water if you have blood or debris in your mouth. Avoid rinsing with antiseptic mouthwash, as this could irritate sensitive tissues.

If the bridge has come loose because of a failure in the cement, the dentist might be able to cement it back in place. If one or both of the abutments have been damaged, it might require a root canal.

If you have a loose, or damaged bridge has you should call us as soon as possible at [phone] to schedule an appointment. We are always happy to address any questions or concerns you have pertaining to your oral care.
